Amsterdam - The Diamond Capital Of The World. Amsterdam lives its life on the street and Amsterdammer's have a warm and welcoming zest for life. The beautiful City of Amsterdam is built around a concentric network of sparkling canals which are spanned by over 1000 bridges. Many of the grand and beautiful buildings stretching along the canals date back to Holland's golden age of the 17th century. Amsterdam is conveniently compact and best explored on foot to appreciate its elaborately gabled buildings and architecture. The old part of town is a pleasure to explore, strolling across ancient bridges and down narrow lanes with many inviting souvenir boutiques crammed with blue and white Delft china and wooden clogs.

Amsterdam Schiphol AMS airport information
Amsterdam Schiphol AMS. Shiphol airport lies nine miles (15km) southwest of Amsterdam.
Airport Transport: From Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam city center. The best and easiest way to travel into the city from Schiphol is by train. The train station is directly below the airport and tickets can be purchased from ticket machines and offices near the platforms at Schiphol Plaza.
General Transport in Amsterdam: Passengers travelling to Amsterdam hotels can use the airport hotel shuttle service called Connexxion, it leaves the airport from the front of Arrivals Hall 2 every 20 minutes and serves just over 50 hotels in and around Amsterdam. The airport is also well served by local bus services.

Car Hire: All major car rental companies are represented, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. If you are just travelling to Amsterdam then car hire is not recommended as parking in Amsterdam central can be extremely difficult.
